The Enchanted Forest is an exploration of the flora and woodlands of the Bradford district, examining the relationship between photography, nature, and imagination through a series of analogue experimental images. Developed through sustained engagement with local woodland environments, the project reflects an interest in how photography can transform familiar landscapes into places of mystery, wonder, and reflection.

Using a range of analogue photographic methodologies  the work challenges photography's traditional role as a documentary medium. Instead, the images create atmospheric interpretations of woodland spaces, revealing hidden details and suggesting narratives that exist beyond direct observation. Plants, trees, and forest interiors are transformed into visually rich and often dreamlike forms that blur the boundaries between reality and imagination.

Influenced by folklore, mythology, and historical associations with forests as places of enchantment and discovery, the series considers the woodland as both a physical environment and a psychological space. The photographs encourage viewers to look beyond the surface appearance of the landscape and engage with the symbolic and cultural meanings embedded within these natural settings.

The Enchanted Forest also reflects on the value of regional woodland ecosystems and their role within collective memory and identity. By combining experimental photographic processes with close observation of the natural world, the work offers an alternative vision of the Bradford landscape, one that celebrates the complexity, beauty, and imaginative potential of often overlooked woodland environments.
