Future Flora 2025
This work re‑positions everyday plants at the heart of biodiversity, encouraging reflection on their future within local ecosystems. Inspired by herbarium practices, these photographs open up conversations about our perceptions of species often dismissed as weeds, highlighting their cultural significance and ecological value.
Furthermore, hundreds of plant species are reportedly blooming across the UK in mid‑winter, offering what scientists describe as a clear and worrying sign of climate breakdown. Findings from the New Year Plant Hunt reveal that warmer temperatures are altering the natural flowering cycles of many wildflowers, including daisies and dandelions. These unseasonal shifts are labelled a ‘visible signal’ by scientists, highlighting how rising temperatures are increasingly unsettling the rhythms of the natural world, as reported in The Guardian.
