Liza Dracup (b.1968) The photographic work of Liza Dracup is made in response to the British landscape. The work on the Gallery page is taken from a series of photographs entitled Sharpe's Wood. This contemporary work has been made over several years, using film and a vintage medium format camera. She photographed at night; between hours of sun set and sun rise. The location for the work is in a woodland area, which was instrumental in her early photographic practice. The camera has been used as a creative tool to track the landscape at night. The work made has been described as 'magical realism', the banal with an edge. The available light came from ambient sources, both natural and artificial. The constant waxing and waning of the moon, transient car headlamps and the glow of streetlights, partially illuminate areas of the wood. The photographs depict a landscape that goes beyond reproducing what the eye can see. Liza is currently working on other photographic projects, which aim to look beyond the traditional imagery of the landscape of Britain. Sharpe's Wood has been the inaugural show at Impressions Gallery, Bradford, UK. Education: MA in Photography, De Montfort University,
